WORLD TERRORISTS

Osama bin Laden

Al-Qaeda— "the base" in Arabic— is a network of extremist terrorists organized by Osama bin Laden. Al-Qaeda members would shout their god Ala’s name is a way of letting others know that they are loyal to him. Bin Laden was traced back to several other bombings around the globe including the London bridge and the US Pentagon. The death of bin Laden, complicated the future of Al-Qaeda. Some speculated that the group will be emboldened and seek retaliation, while others wondered if it might still continue to operate without its supreme leader. In June, U.S. officials announced that after pouring through the documents and computer files taken from Osama Bin Laden's compound, they confirmed their assumption that Al-Qaedain Afghanistan and Pakistan has been seriously weakened as a result of U.S. counter terrorism operations undertaken in Pakistan.

September 11, 2001- Attack of the World Trade Center
Al-Qaeda has an attachment to bombing, especially suicide bombing. To them it is an act of bravery and an act of greatness. Al-Qaeda doesn't only use bombings during combat. Al-Qaeda also used a variety of weapons like machine guns, bazookas, and a grenade containing “mustard gas”. One of Al-Qaeda's major and more memorable attacks did was the attack of the World Trade Center (WTC). On September 11, 2001, Al-Qaeda hijacked four planes. Two of the   plance crashed into the Twin Towers. A janitor, William Rodriguez spoke about how it was in WTC, "When I heard the sound of the explosion, the floor beneath my feet vibrated, the walls started cracking and everything started shaking. Seconds after the first massive explosion below in the basement still rattled the floor, I hear another explosion from way above." He was able to save 15 people. Another hijacked plane went into the pentagon. The last plane was redirected to Washington D.C., but instead landed in Pennsylvania. There were no survivors from any of the flights. Other than that attack, they did many others.

Al-Qaeda uses terrorism because it will strike fear into the hearts of their enemies. Al-Qaeda also used terrorism to make a point to their enemies government. America’s citizens were frightened because of the recent bombing on 9/11. After the attack from Al-Qaeda, racism worsened. In Al-Qaeda's eyes, terrorizing it is the right thing to do because they were raised with those beliefs. With these beliefs, Al-Qaeda has continued to fight for their organization to make their beliefs come to reality.

The US retaliated by killing their leader, Osama bin Laden. The US and Al-Qaeda have been at war for about 10 years now. U.S. has killed about a thousand of their followers. After many attempts over 10 years the U.S. finally captured Osama Bin Laden. After the U.S. killed bin Laden, the U.S. changed up the Al-Qaeda “government”.

In the paragraph above, we mentioned that the U.S. killed Osama bin Laden. He was killed on an operation in May 2011. After the sudden killing, Al-Qaeda was left confused, not knowing what to do next. There isn't much information about what they are currently doing, but Al-Qaeda is working hard to improve their organization.
